shock and awe

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, were to begin... We still have our foster daughter and she's precious (drives me nuts sometimes but what kid doesn't!) She'll be one in a couple weeks so we're going to celebrate her day with family and friends. Owen is in preschool, can't believe it. He's also in AWANA and really enjoys it. Kevin's back to being a small group leader in our jr. high youth group, I don't know how he does it. On paper he has about 15 7th graders, I could be off a few and there might be a 6th grader here and there, not 100% sure. Bless his heart, I certainly couldn't do it. Oh yeah, WE'RE PREGNANT!! Due in April 2010 so makes me about 3 month, that's were the shock and awe come in. Still in shock and not real sure when I'll come out of it. God sure is at work.

5k

WOO! I actually ran an official 5k race this morning and finished!! That's a huge accomplishment for me, THANK YOU LORD for holding off the rain till I was finished!! I want to go do so much stuff today and tackle a few things I haven't done with two kids yet, still adjusting to having our little foster baby. But all my body wants to do is curl into a little ball and sleep under a warm blanket :) What to do, what to do...

broken hallelujah

With my love and my sadness
I come before You Lord
My heart’s in a thousand pieces
Maybe even more

Yet I trust in this moment
You’re with me somehow
And You’ve always been faithful
So Lord even now

When all that I can sing
Is a broken hallelujah
When my only offering
Is shattered praise
Still a song of adoration
Will rise up from these ruins
I will worship You and give You thanks
Even when my only praise
Is a broken hallelujah

Oh Father, You have given
Much more than I deserve
And I have felt Your hand of blessing
On me at every turn

How could I doubt Your goodness
Your wisdom, Your grace
So Lord hear my heart
In this painful place

Hallelujah
I lift my voice
Your Spirit moves
I raise my hands
I reach for You

When I am far away from home
and the cold wind starts to blow
when I'm empty and alone
I turn to you

When there's hardness in my heart
and I cannot see truth
and I'm wandering in the dark
I turn to you

and here in your holy presence
its all that I can do

I turn to you Jesus
I turn to you Lord

For the youth when I am old
For the strength when I am weak
For the warmth when I am cold
I turn to you

For the faith to move ahead
and to let go of the past
To see me as you do
I turn to you

and here in your holy presence
Its all that I can do

I turn to you Jesus
I turn you Lord

For you alone are worthy
the one and only God
the ruler of the nations
and the father of our hearts

I turn to you Jesus
I turn to you Lord
I turn to you you you you Jesus
I turn to you Lord

When I'm weak I will follow
In your arms I will stay
Will you lead me
only you can save

I turn to you Jesus
I turn to you

she's so vain...

I'm giggling right now because looking back at the last few post's and the one I'm about to write, I can't help but hear the song you're so vain in my head.

I had a great weekend! Away from where I live, no responsibilities, laughing, crying, great food...oh I could go on but I need to get to the most important part (well maybe the second important part, I do LOVE getting to see my sister and her family, that's the first)...now I'm babbling cause I'm so excited. In Wooster, Ohio is a salon, Sheer Professionals. The stylists there have God given gifts, no lie! You can walk out of there and feel feminine, that's something I don't think I've EVER felt. If you live anywhere near there, shoot I'm 5 hours away and it's worth it, call and set up an appointment with Sandra Carr for a cut and color. She can seriously change your mind about your hair and whatever you hate about it, you'll realize it's not so bad after all. You will walk out of there feeling taller, more confident and beautiful but it's not cheap though so be prepared, say up to $150 for cut and color(s) but SO WORTH IT. I think another reason I like Sandra is that you can tell she loves Jesus. She lives to serve God and as silly as it may sound she really uses her hands and gifts in styling to bring God glory.

See why you're so vain is playing in my head :)

FUN!

Thanks to Big Mama, I'm having fun getting back into fashion and my appearance (in a good way of course not in vain, well, maybe a little vain) :) and remembering that it's important to take care of yourself especially if you're married! My husband has already noticed the care I've given myself when he comes home (and it's only been 2 days! That just means I let things go a little too long!), I'm not in a baggy sweatshirt and way too baggy sweats or as I like to call some of my clothes, scrubs.

Here are some fun places to shop online...

H & M - fun to shop in the store too when you're in the mood! It can sort of be confusing at first when you visit the site, make a model if you want, or just start strying clothes on the model they provide. Oh, and remember your age and dress appropriately :)

American Eagle is another fun place to shop online and they run some pretty good sales in the store. They also have some cute things for kids, a bit pricey but cute nonetheless.

The Vintage Pearl is a great spot to get some cute accessories for yourself or for a gift especailly if you like personalized things.

We can't forget fashion for our homes! Pottery Barn, PBteen, Pottery Barn Kids all fun places to shop and if anything, you get some great ideas! Lockwood Design and Turquoise will brighten your day and put a smile on your face (as long as you don't look at the prices, yikes!). Of course we can't forget Target and the Target's around me have a newer home decor section, noticed it last year and they have it again this year, fun stuff!

A good bra!! If your ladies are a little larger than this becomes even more important. Also, from my own experience, swimsuit shopping is HORRIBLE!! Biggerbras.com is a great place to get good "support" for this issue :) Here's my personal favorite and wear often during the summer months which are quickly approaching.

Have a great "Lover's Weekend" everyone!!

again with the paint...

This is my favorite sweatshirt of Owen's and after stressing out (I know I didn't need to but I was none the less) about what to paint his room I thought why not use the colors in this, I love them, so that's what I did. His walls are the light blue color and everything I'm decorating with I painted one of the stripe colors or at least as close to it as I could.
Bought this cute surfboard at Michael's and googled surfboards and found one I liked and tried to paint this one to look like it. I added cork board and ribbon to it then made some cute thumb tacks. They have some other super cute things like guitars, princess crowns, quote bubble (I don't know what it's actually called or how to describe it), girl and boy silhouettes (like you see on bathroom signs) and a few others.

Found canvas at Hobby Lobby, hot glued it then painted it to make a cute growth chart, we've had fun painting with his feet and hands lately :) I'll add more hands throughout the years as he gets bigger. I know the duck tape is an eye sore but I don't have the dowels cut yet, oops.

I painted this box months ago and mod podged fun paper all the way around it and ribbon, I needed something to do.

Friday fun!

I don't really have advise just a few places you can get some great accessories that include scarves. I also must include that most of my "fashion taste" I copy from my best.

Charlotte Russe -they also have some fun jewelry.

Rue 21 (you have to scroll to almost the bottom of the page for the scarves)

Buckle - You can find some great jeans here too. If you have a store near you go and check it out. If you're like me you are intimidated by places like this, like you don't feel "cool" enough to shop there. I found the Buckle, more than anywhere else I shop, to be more friendly and "accepting" of my uncool self :) they were so helpful and nonjudgmental, I felt safe there.

paint!

Paint is an obsession of mine right now...what rooms to paint, what color to paint them, projects to decorate the room, furniture for them...

Here's what we did this weekend

fostering

**UPDATE**

the interviews were painless and went well and we're told that in pry about a month we'll be licensed to foster up to two children, newborns - 3yr olds. Again I ask, is this really happening???! What's up your sleeve LORD? Remember Beck, "the secret things belong to the LORD..." deuteronomy 29:29

****

We have our personal interviews today for the foster parenting process, a little nervous and excited. Is this really happening God? Oh boy...

shopping therapy

UPDATE! I decided after a couple weeks to keep the heels and boy let me tell you, I feel so GREAT in them!! My feet don't but I do feel taller and thinner! :) Here's pretty much what they look like but mine are black (I think they show up in blue). Rach wrote about heels and I'm telling ya, she speaks truth!

I've been starting to feel a little sad that the holiday season is coming to an end and Kevin is going back to work, I've loved having him home since Christmas Eve. Shopping usually puts me in an even more depressive state but this time it finally worked for me! I found a great pair of Nine West pointy toed, 4 inch, yes 4 INCH (I had to measure), heels! Love em!! Only $15, maybe that's not a bargain to you but it sure was to me, now if only I could walk in them without looking silly and breaking my ankle! :) I'm gonna give it the old college try... and who cares how much your feet hurt after wearing them as long as you look good right?!?
